COVID-19: SECOND WAVE PRECAUTIOUS

COVID-19: SECOND WAVE PRECAUTIOUS

PORT ELIZABETH – On 12 October 2020, the Minister of Health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, warned fellow South Africans of the possible entrance into a second wave of the coronavirus, and warned us against complacency.

The country has recorded (as of 11 November 2020) 378 100 active cases, 1 372 new cases, with the Eastern Cape declaring a total of 101 336 cases. [Numbers are subject to change]

With the number of infections increasing on a daily bases and deaths every week, South Africans have been warned and advised to prepare themselves for this second wave of the coronavirus.

At Khanyisela College, we continue to smoothly carry out our operations, while using the regulations as a guideline. We encourage our staff and learners to stick to the regulations set out by the health officials, and these regulations include (but are not limited to) regular screening of people who enter the premises, social distancing within the institution, regular washing of hands and limited gatherings in shared spaces.

We encourage our staff to be transparent when they are being asked questions for the purpose of screening, no one may enter the building if they are not wearing a mask, handshakes and hugging are not encouraged.

“COVID-19 is still with us, especially if we start thinking that we should be complacent and forget about masks and social distancing,’’ stated our Minister.

We urge our staff to continue using their elbow when they sneeze or cough and that they should not report for duty when they suspect that they may have any symptoms. However, evidence of their visit to the doctor will be required when they return to work.

We continue to try to minimise direct contact and should an opportunity of conducting meetings virtually present itself, we would like to strongly recommend that you take it into consideration.

Please stay safe during this time as the virus is still with us.

Khanyisela College takes this pandemic very seriously.  Anyone who does not adhere to the COVID-19 regulations and protocols will be asked to leave the College, or will not be allowed entry.

We did it again!

We did it again!

Well done Khanyisela College Team on winning the PMR Africa Diamond Arrow Award for the fourth time in a row.

We are excited to announce that Khanyisela College is officially open for training.

Many people are anxious – and rightfully so – about returning to work when we are seeing Covid-19 cases spiking.  Please be assured that Khanyisela College is doing everything to adhere to the highest standards of sanitisation and protocol to ensure that your return to your studies with us is within a trusted environment.

Pre-opening, the College has:

  • Engaged in deep cleaning of all offices and classrooms. The certificate to demonstrate this cleaning is available for your perusal.
  • Traffic has been limited to the College.
  • The staff have been trained on Covid-19 H&S protocol, wear masks and sanitise regularly.
  • Our staff are all socially distanced at more than a meter apart and are required to wear masks at all times.
  • Covid-19 screening is conducted by our Health and Safety Representatives, Allistene Esbach and Ntombentsha Popose, before anyone enters the building and everyone is sanitised before entry.
  • For those of you who are still not comfortable to come into the building physically, we now make allowance for virtual training and portfolio submissions. We are also hard at work creating an e-learning platform which you will have access to as the various modules become available. Please call our College and speak to the Sales and Marketing department for more details

COVID-19: SECOND WAVE PRECAUTIOUS

Important Notice

26 May 2020

Dear Khanyisela College valued learners and clients

RETURN TO WORK:  1 JUNE

I am sure that you are interested to know when we will resume our training program with you.  As you are aware, President Ramaphosa has allowed us to move form lockdown level 4 to level 3 from 1 June.  In addition, the Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga has indicated that education institutions are to open on 1 June 2020.

Many people are anxious – and rightfully so – about returning to work when we are seeing Covid-19 cases spiking.  Please be assured that Khanyisela College is doing everything to adhere to the highest standards of sanitisation and protocol to ensure that your return to your studies with us is within a trusted environment.

To this end, a skeleton staff returned to work cautiously on Monday, 11 May to research the Covid-19 protocols and ensure that we implement all the required standards.

The College has engaged in deep cleaning of all offices and classrooms.  The certificate to demonstrate this cleaning is available for your perusal.

We have limited traffic to the College for now to only staff. Learners who need to collect or drop off portfolios call the College and arrange to drop off at the pedestrian gate.

Our staff are all socially distanced at more than a meter apart and are required to wear masks at all times.  Their temperature is checked before they enter the building and everyone is sanitised before entry, or clock in.

Khanyisela College takes this pandemic very seriously.  Anyone who does not adhere to the Covid-19 regulations and protocol will be asked to leave the College, or will not be allowed entry.

For those of you who are still not comfortable to come into the building physically, we now make allowance for virtual training and portfolio submissions.  We are also hard at work creating an e-learning platform which you will have access to as the various modules become available.  Please call our College and speak to the Sales and Marketing department for more details.

Under the lockdown rules – and which will be in place for some time to come – large gatherings are not allowed.  For this reason, the July and November graduations have been cancelled, as well as kctalks.  We will host a virtual event and a copy of your certificate of competence will be emailed to you.  Collection schedules will be arranged, so that no more than ten people are collecting their certificates in the space of an hour.  More details of this closer to the time.

Regarding kctalks, we are excited to use this platform to bring current and trending discussions to you.  These include any anxiety you might have regarding HR protocol, leading in the time of corona and how to handle the massive changes with your staff at this time in our history.  Watch our Facebook page for more details soon.

Please stay safe during this time.  Try to be kind to each other and let us all work together to grow our beautiful country again.  Let us use this challenge as an opportunity to demonstrate our ability to exercise Ubuntu and not add to the already strained economy.

We look forward to seeing you again from a socially acceptable distance.

Regards,

Tanya Kisten
